Perennial Food Forests
If you walked through the first human agriculture projects, you may be confused. There are no plants in straight rows but instead you would see a forest of trees, shrubs, and undergrowth. In our perennial workshop you will become familiar with these food forests. You'll learn with the help of Davey Stewards, Katie Strubel, and other experts how to work with nature to create small ecosystems of food. Instead of clearing land to grow one type of plant, you'll learn how to pair plants to work together with native species. This process creates resilient systems that will provide harvest from year to year, without replanting. It's also great for local pollinators, and native plants!
With this knowledge, you will help create a small food forest and gain the skills to start one in your neighborhood!
